[360°] BMW E36 VERT: Budget Drift Build – Part 9

Last night, we went drifting at Midnight Madness as Gateway Raceway! Running on fresh tires, we practiced getting close to the wall. However, not having an angle kit, or coilovers, is causing problems with controlling the drift angle and momentum. Hopefully we can make some upgrades for the next event. Enjoy the video!

The BMW E36 is the third generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars, and was produced from 1990 to 2000. The initial models were of the four-door sedan body style, followed by the coupe, convertible, wagon and hatchback. The E36 was the first 3-Series to be offered in a hatchback bodystyle. It was also the first 3-Series to be available with a six-speed manual transmission, a five-speed automatic transmission and a four-cylinder diesel engine. The multi-link rear suspension was also a significant upgrade, as compared to the previous generations of the 3-Series. The high performance E36 M3 is powered by the BMW S50 or BMW S52 straight-six engine.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: First Carshow & Cruise Night

Every third Saturday in 2020, Iceman’s summer bash will be hosted at Gravois Springs Plaza in House Springs, MO. All custom, classic and specialty vehicles are welcome! Food, fun, music and prizes! The carshow starts at 5pm, and ends at sunset. After the show, we cruise over to South Lindbergh Blvd and meet up with the rest of the local car community.

Porsche bolts a 4.0-liter flat-six with a manual transmission into the new 2020 Cayman GT4 and in doing so fixes the few things we didn’t love about the Cayman. So, when you hear the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4’s naturally aspirated flat-six howling toward 8000 rpm, you find yourself taking a deep, refreshing breath. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up, goose bumps trickle down your spine, and thanks to the dynamic powertrain mounts that firm up when the car is pushed, the frenetic vibrations of the 4.0-liter behind your back course through the car. This thing around you feels alive.

The Porsche Cayman is a mid-engine two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by German automobile manufacturer Porsche across four generations — as a 2-seater fastback coupé. First launched in the 2006 model year, the Cayman is a coupé derived from Porsche’s second and third generation Boxster roadster, styled in its first iteration by Pinky Lai. All Caymans were manufactured in Finland by Valmet Automotive. As Volkswagen assumed control of Porsche AG, production of Caymans and Boxsters after 2012 began in the former Karmann plant in Osnabrück, Germany, at the time owned by Volkswagen and also used for production of the 2012 Golf (Mk6) convertible.

The Porsche 944 is a sports car manufactured by German automobile manufacturer Porsche from 1982 to 1991. A front-engine, rear-wheel drive mid-level model based on the 924 platform, the 944 was available in coupé or cabriolet body styles, with either naturally aspirated or turbocharged engines.

The LS based small-block engine is the primary V-8 used in General Motors’ line of rear-wheel-drive cars and trucks. Introduced in January 1995, it is a “clean sheet” design with only rod bearings, lifters, and bore spacing in common with the longstanding Chevrolet small block V8 that preceded it as the basis for GM small-block V8s. The basic LS variations use cast iron blocks, while performance editions are all aluminium with cast iron cylinder liners. The LS small-block has been manufactured in three Generations – III, IV, and V – with preceding Generations I and II of modular GM small-block engines having been based on the Chevrolet small-block V8 originally designed in 1955. GM recycled the “LT” designation beginning with the LS Generation V “LT1” in 2014.
