Varis: Full Carbon GT Wing – Toyota 86, Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ

Part 2 of 2. Set the wing on your trunk, then eyeball it and get it centered. Next, run a line of tape down the center of the trunk, then a line of tape under each of the bolt holes. Then remove the wing. Take a soft precision Metric tape measure, and mark a center-line on the trunk. Then set the wing back on the trunk, and measure 110mm from the center-line to the edge of each plate. Make sure the plates are slightly loose, or not attached to the wing at all. Then mark the hole pattern onto the tape. Next, double check all of your measurements! After checking everything is centered, drill your pilot holes with the smallest drill bit you can. Then go back and check everything again with the tape measure. Next, choose the most accurate marks to drill your full-size holes. Use a drill bit that is barely large enough for the bolt, as you want it to fit tight. As you continue drilling, keep checking accuracy of the hole placement. Then you can bolt it all down, be careful not to over-tighten the bolts, and go for a test drive! Check the bolts after each drive for the first week of use. If you used lock-tite, you should be alright! Don’t forget, if you want quality parts, buy JDM!

Part 1 of 2. Installation begins with preparation. The wing was properly clear-coated by a local body shop, and is now ready to be assembled. Sorting the hardware before assembling will help make things go smoother. Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts!
