Enhanced with the latest technical innovations and producing more power than the previous generation, the FE 501s continues to be the most powerful machine in Husqvarna Motorcycles’ dual-sport line-up. A new engine for 2024 produces a broader spread of controllable power and by positioning the engine shaft arrangements at the ideal center of gravity, maneuverability is vastly improved. Aiding this agile feel is the new chassis, which has been developed and manufactured using advanced engineering techniques. Together with new WP Suspension, enhanced comfort is assured. Expertly assembled with high-quality components throughout, the FE 501s is finished with new functional bodywork adorned with white, yellow, and blue graphics inspired by the Swedish heritage of the brand. Today we used a Race Parts Direct LS Engine Lift Plate on our Porsche 944, yes you heard me right, on a Porsche 944, to remove our blown 5.3L LS racing engine from the car. The RPD Engine Lift Plate made the job so much easier; no more dangling chains everywhere, no more balance bar nonsense, just a nice simple LS Engine Lift Plate to quickly yank her right out. The LS based small-block engine is the primary V-8 used in General Motors’ line of rear-wheel-drive cars and trucks. Introduced in January 1995, it is a “clean sheet” design with only rod bearings, lifters, and bore spacing in common with the longstanding Chevrolet small block V8 that preceded it as the basis for GM small-block V8s. The basic LS variations use cast iron blocks, while performance editions are all aluminum with cast iron cylinder liners. The LS small-block has been manufactured in three Generations – III, IV, and V – with preceding Generations I and II of modular GM small-block engines having been based on the Chevrolet small-block V8 originally designed in 1955. GM recycled the “LT” designation beginning with the LS Generation V “LT1” in 2014. (Description courtesy of Wikipedia)

Words can not express my anger, frustration and depression caused by the catastrophic failure of our 5.3L LS racing engine this weekend. We had this engine over-built with forged pistons and rods, upgraded pushrods, rockers, springs, oil pump, etc… This engine was built to easily handle twice the 330hp that we were putting to the wheels. If anyone sees something on the dashboard gauges that would hint at what happened, please let me know in the comments. The gauges are arranged as follows, from top-left to bottom-right: Battery, Oil Pressure, Speed, RPM, Coolant Temperature, Fuel Level, AFR, Throttle %, Fuel Pressure and Cooling Fan status. As far as I can tell, we never lost oil pressure, we never lost fuel pressure, coolant temperature was rock-solid right where we want it, we never even got to redline. The only thing I don’t know well enough is AFR, some of the numbers seem a little lean under half-throttle, but maybe someone with more experience can chime in. See something? Say something! … Stay tuned for more videos coming soon.
